Currently, about 75% of a vehicle can be recycled. We remove all functioning parts from a vehicle.
When a vehicle arrives at Sandgate Wreckers:
It gets washed, photographed and inventoried
All fluids are drained and placed into drums - Engine and Gearbox are removed
Top 20 most sort after parts are then removed and placed into stock/shelving
When it is time for vehicle to be scrapped: All recyclable materials are separated; copper, alloy, steel into different bins
Vehicle is then wrapped and collected from the scrap metal recyclers
